Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ÅF, a Swedish technical consulting company, is planning to increase its workforce by 130 engineers in Gothenburg and Western Sweden during the autumn of 2016. ÅF will continue to expand its activities during 2017 and will in total increase its workforce with 500 employees, mainly engineers. The reason for the expansion is an increased demand within the infrastructure sector due to the construction of 'Västlänken' in Gothenburg, a railroad tunnel crossing the central parts of the city. Furthermore, the current growth of the automotive industry in Gothenburg and Western Sweden has implied an increase in the demand for technical consultancy activities. ÅF is especially interested in recruiting women in order to achieve a higher percentage of women within the company. The aim is that 30% of the employees will be women.
ÅF Group has a total of 8,500 employees. A business expansion by ÅF in Gothenburg and Western Sweden was previously reported in 2013.
