Polish premium supermarket chain Alma Market has announced that it will cut 1,321 jobs via collective dismissal programme. The restructuring programme is associated with the company’s plans to shut down ten unprofitable shops across Poland and reduce the employment in the head office. The conditions of the programme are negotiated with the local trade union. Alma Market has also applied for bankruptcy as the company is facing financial problems.
Alma Market was founded in 1995; currently, the company has 40 stores and employs 3,100 workers across the country.
Update 7/11/2016: Alma Market has announced that it will cut further 383 jobs via collective dismissal programme. The restructuring programme will be implemented in the company’s headquarters. The cuts are related to the closures of unprofitable shops which were announced in September 2016.
