European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Metro group announced that it will reduce its Belgian workforce by 505. The job cuts will affect people working in Metro Group and Makro wholesale, cash and carry stores. The restructuring follows a 2014 re-organisation which didn't deliver the expected results. The company is now expected to focus on serving professional clients in the hospitality and food industries. The German Metro group runs 15 large stores in Belgium under both the Makro and the Metro Cash & Carry brand.
