Description
Meyer Turku, owner and operator of the Turku Shipyard, is expanding. During the last year 350 new employees have been hired and the company expects to double its number of employees and sub-contractors during the next 6 - 7 years. The reason for the expansion is several new orders for large cruise ships, partly due to the Meyer Turku's cooperation with German-American shipping company "TUI Cruises".
Meyer Turku currently has around 1,500 employees, and when sub-contractors are included, around 6,500 individuals are working within the sector. In 2026 approximately 12,000 individuals are expected to work within the sector in Turku.
