Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 26 July 2016, fashion retailer Steilmann announced to cut 100 jobs at its affiliate fashion stores Boecker by 31 August 2016. Job cuts affect 5 out of the 12 Boecker fashion stores in Germany. The company announced its insolvency on 23 March 2016. The insolvency administrator since informed that 3 fashion stores will be taken over by U&F Moden and 4 stores by Crossover company. The fact that 4 out of 7 fashion stores will be taken over will save 230 out of 330 jobs, amounting to 70% fo total employment.
