Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Medical devices company Surmodics is to hire 100 people at its R&D plant in Galway. The company has already hired 32 individuals at the former Creagh Medical facility in Galway.
Surmodics is an American company, and has its headquarters in Minnasota. Its primary function is to make medical devices used in the treatment of heart disease. The company is to invest a further €9.5m in research and development, and will allocate €7m in to upgrading its facility in Ballinasloe.
