Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Edwards, a British manufacturer of vacuum equipment, plans to create up to 200 new jobs at its Brno site over the coming two years. At the first stage, starting on 1 June 2016, the company will recruit 100 people, mainly IT professionals and qualified accountants. The Brno site, which serves as a pan-European shared service centre, currently employs 160 workers.
In the Czech Republic, Edwards is operating a manufacturing plant in LutÃn (Olomouc region), which employs 600 people and its turnover reached CZK 6 billion (EUR 222 million) in 2015.
Edwards is a global manufacturer of pumps. The company employs about 4,200 people worldwide and in 2015 achieved revenues of almost EUR 1Â billion.
