Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French animation studio Mikros Image has announced that it will recruit 230 employees by December 2016 for its site in Levallois-Perret near Paris. This recruitment will occur within the framework of a global expansion, which will see the company hire an additional 110 employees in the UK and 250 in Canada. This expansion is related in part to the United States animation studio DreamWorks' decision to entrust Mikros with a contract to realise a 3D adaptation of the comic 'Captain Underpants'. MIkros also earned another important contract with M6, another large animation studio, and will start the realisation of a new 'Astérix' animated movie. According to Les Echos, management at DreamWorks studios was impressed by the technical competencies and financial competitiveness of Mikros Image, and that this helped them to secure the large contracts. The global expansion will see employment at Mikros Image nearly triple in the coming year.
