Brandt, a manufacturer of kitchen appliances, has announced a  plan to cut 161 positions in France. The group aims to cut 74 positions from a total of 190 in its customer service unit located in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, and 87 positions from a total of 261 at its headquarters in Reuil-Malmaison. The Algerian group Cevital took over production in 2014 with the financial support of the public authorities, including a loan of €47.5 million which was financed by the State. This take over allowed for 1,420 positions of a total of 1,800 to be saved. The management and unions have started negotiations regarding the job losses, and it is expected that employment impacts will begin in approximately three months. In 2004, Brandt, owned by the Elco Brandt group, relocated its manufacturing facilities to eastern Europe, and suffered a total of 400 job cuts.
