Description

Eesti Energia Tehnoloogiatööstus, builder of metal constructions and affiliate of Eesti Energia has made 56 people redundant due to decrease in number of orders. Overall, the number of employees in the company has decreased from 609 in 2015 to 425 in 2016. In the last three and a half months, the company has had to lay off 56 people due to lack of orders. The  majority of the employees (258) has been working only 4 days a week from 18 March till the end of April. Only the sales department, some engineers and employees from the building division, occupied with some on-going projects, are working full-time. Maintenance and testing centres are also working without additional vacation days. According to the company representative, the decrease in personnel is caused by the ending of large projects that started in 2014  which, at the time, led to the recruitment of additional staff.  According to the company representative, whether the work load will increase or decrease even more, is largely dependent on their sales work. The company is actively seeking business partners, looking for orders from abroad, and bidding for tenders.
