Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Zito Group from Cepin near the City of Osijek is building a new plant for preparation and packaging of meat products. The plant is expected to produce about 150,000 top-quality eco friendly ham and prosciutto. The plant will employ directly 100 people, of whom a dozen are food technologists who have completed training in Italy. Indirectly, through sale, distribution, transport, slaughter, cooperation and other activities another 250 people will find jobs. The plant is currently in test production of hams and final control of technological equipment. The Zito Group owns six pig farms, so it has all the necessary resources for the production of durable meat products of superior quality and controlled origin.
Updated, 27/11/2016; The owner of Zito Group, Marko Pipunic, has presented a new investment plan worth HRK 500 million (€66.74 million) to the PPDIV (Croatian Union of Employees in Food, Agriculture and Tobacco, and Water Management sectors), and its President, Simo Oreskovic. Zito revealed that the investment will be for its expansion and increased production, which will result in the creation of approximately 200 new jobs at the company and an additional 200 jobs in related firms and subcontractors. After the presentation, the PPDIV's representatives expressed their support for Zito's plans.
