Kompania Węglowa, a large European coal mining company, has announced that its coal mine Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Anna located in Pszów will be transferred on 1st April 2016 to Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń (SRK) and finally closed down as the deposits of Anna are running out. The restructuring programme involves about 1,500 jobs cut in 2016, including 700 miners and 800 employees of other departments. Most of redundant workers will receive a severance pay.
Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń is an entity which manages the process of closing down mining companies, including managing of the assets of liquidated mines. Kompania Węglowa announced that it plans to transfer another coal mines to SRK (a mining consultancy company) in 2017. Kompania Węglowa employs over 34,000 people in 11 coal mines and 4 production facilities.
