Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cattle and pig slaughter firm Hilckman en Slachthuis Nijmegen announced it will close, resulting in the loss of 350 jobs including 110 permanent employees. The firm states that the closure is due to the loss of exports to China, resulting in financial losses since 2010. The firm has negotiated a social plan with the works council.
