Description
Sana Clinics Duisburg announced to cut 270 jobs by June 2016. The affected units are located in services without direct contact to patients. This mainly concerns technicians, kitchen workers and the laundry service as the clinic has decided to hire external companies for these fields. According to the management, the job reductions are due to an attempt to concentrate on medicine and nursing care. However, employees and workers’ representatives are seeking to take actions against the job cuts and the redundancies were also criticised by the labour union Verdi.
Sana bought the shares of this hospital in Duisburg in 2015 and currently employs 2,200 employees.
