Description

American online retailer Amazon has announced that it will create over 1,000 new jobs at its units in Poland by the end of 2016. The workforce will be increased in three distribution centres located in Poznań and Bielany Wrocławskie near Wrocław (the centre hired 170 wokers in 2015, and 500 in 2014) as well as in Amazon Development Centre in Gdańsk and Amazon Web Services in Warszawa. The company is looking for IT specialists, engineers, logistic specialists, finance specialists, HR staff as well as linguists, speech therapists, digital media specialists, customer service assistants and warehouse staff. The company revealed that it has invested more than PLN 2 billion (EUR 445.62mn USD 486.38mn) in Poland. The Polish branch hired 4000 workers in 2013.

The restructuring programme is a part of a larger Amazon’s plan to expand its units in Europe in 2016; the company has announced that several thousand jobs will be created in various locations across the continent.

Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, with headquarters in Seattle, US, currently employs around 230,800 employees worldwide. In Europe, the company employs over 40,000 people, including 4,500 in Poland.
