Description

Tragsa, the Spanish publicly-owned environmental firm, has announced that the application of the employment adjustment, which originally was supposed to affect 1,336 workers, will result in the dismissal of 555 workers (5% of total workforce). The improvement of the company activity recorded at the end of 2015 explains the reduction in the number of dismissals. Together with the dismissals, the company has put into practice a global plan aiming to save costs. This includes a simplification of the company's structure, including a reduction of the regional boards (from 17 to 5) and a reduction of the fixed expenses by 12%. However, the trade union CCOO union in Castilla-La Mancha has announced that it will continue fighting in order to reincorporate the 555 workers affected by the dismissals.
