Description

US owned multinational General Electric has announced plans to restructure its operations across Europe.  In total 6,500 jobs will be cut, of which 570 are expected to be lost from the UK part of the business.  The job losses in the UK mean that the company will cut approximately 3% of its 22,000 strong workforce. It is understood that the job cuts follow General Electric's take over of French power company Alstom in November 2015.   It is not known when the job cuts in the UK will take place.
