Discount supermarket chain Aldi has announced plans to open eight new stores across Scotland in 2016 which will result in the creation of 550 new jobs. The new stores will be located in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Annan, Polmont, Newton Mearns, Strathaven along with two stores in Edinburgh. The latest news from the retailer continues the rapid expansion which has been seen in previous years, both in Scotland and across the UK more generally. Following this round of expansion Aldi will operate 72 stores across Scotland and employ around 2,500 workers in total.
