Description

IT services company Caymasa has the intention of applying for a collective dismissal that will affect 132 workers (38% of its entire workforce). According to the company, the measure is due to the losses registered in 2013, 2014 and the first three quarters of 2015. Accordingly, the company justified the measure due to economic reasons. It is also argued that the employment adjustment aims to guaranty the viability of the company. The measure will affect employees who no longer have a workload and whose job is not needed anymore. Negotiations with the trade unions will take place in the following days. At this time, the trade union CCOO has announced that it rejects the measure. The trade union points out that the company recorded looses due to its decision of not applying to various tenders. Accordingly, it has demanded the company to withdraw the dismissals in order to be able to negotiate ways to ensure the viability of the company without conditions.
