Description

HAC ONC (Croatian Motorway) is set to fire 200 employees after a comprehensive report has revealed organised theft at toll booths in Zagreb. Embezzlement in HAC ONC (Croatia Motorway) has taken place for years, according to the report, allegedly protected by middle management. The report is based on records from video cameras installed in some toll booths where employees are recorded stealing money. The HAC intends to take disciplinary measures which will result in dismissal in most cases. Earlier reports have mentioned similar cases, but almost always without any serious action taken against the employees. Mijat Stanic, the president of the Independent Road Union Theft (Nezavisni cestarski sindikat) believes that this is not a case of theft, but rather repression of the new administration after employees opposed the illegal procurement of vehicles for winter service.
