Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The pharmaceutical group Servier has announced a reorganisation plan that will lead to 610 positions cut from a total of 690 in their marketing services in France. The reorganisation will be launched during the second semester of 2016. The aim is to save the competitiveness of the group. According to a spokesman of the group, the sales of Servier (€241.6 million in 2014-2015) are two times lower than five years ago. 80% of Servier’s medicine provisions are from drugs that are no longer patent protected or will fall into the public domain by 2019. The information and consultation process started on 3 December 2015. Servier has 5,000 employees in France and about 21,000 worldwide.
