Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 November, the Commercial court of Chartres has agreed the take over of Futurol by TIR Technologies, with 228 job cuts. Futurol Industries is the second largest French roller shutters manufacturer. Its headquarters are located in Thimert-Gâtelles (200 employees) and it has four plants, one in Chartres (26 employees, Eure-et_loire) and three near Toulouse (Haute Garonne) in Valence-d'Agen, Golfech and Saint-Loup. It was placed in receivership in November 2014. TIR Technologies (175 employees) is a manufacturer of blinds and roller blinds located in Kilstett (Bas-Rhin). Its turnover reached €300 million in 2014. The new owner made the commitment to take over 85 employees from the sites in Eure-et-Loire (with a total workforce of 226 employees) and 93 in the plants near Toulouse (with a total workforce of 180 employees). A total of 228 employees will be dismissed.
