Description

Goodyear Dunlop Germany, the US-based tyre manufacturer, will cut around 116 out of 900 jobs at Wittlich by the end of 2016 and more generally the production of passenger car tyres will be gradually reduced. The production plant in Wittlich will shortly be completely aligned for the production and retreading of lorry tyres.

The job reduction will be affected by reducing temporary positions, internal relocations and voluntary redundancies among other things. The company is optimistic that compulsory redundancies can be avoided through the implementation of a social plan.

Goodyear was founded in 1898 and Dunlop in 1889. In 1999 it joined forces to create Goodyear Dunlop and its German headquarter is in Hanau. The company is a subsidiary of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Currently, about 4,000 employees are working for Goodyear Dunlop in Germany and the company has 900 employees in Wittlich.
