Description

Gothenburg Municipality is to hire 200-300 new employees next year. The recruitment is due to the increased need for personnel working with children who have migrated to Sweden unaccompanied. To manage the situation and be able to hire as many workers as required, the municipality is now lowering the education requirements for part of its workforce.

In response to the large amounts of refugees and unaccompanied refugee children arriving in Sweden Malmö Municipality and Stockholm Municipality have hired a large number of new employees as well.

Update 11/12/2015: Gothenburg Municipality has revised its plan to hire 200-300 new employees and is instead to hire 1000-1500 new employees next year. The recruitment is due to an even greater need for personnel working with refugees who are unaccompanied minors. Earlier prognoses of 900 children for 2015 have been revised and the municipality instead expects in total 1800 unaccompanied children before the end of the year.
