Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dealerdirect, the German online market operator for second-hand vehicles, will hire 250 new employees at its headquarters in Neuss and at its new plant in Hamburg by the end of 2015. The job creation will affect the company's customer service, distribution, sales, marketing and accounting departments. The firm has been reporting a significant increase in its business volume and the number of vehicles sold in the first term of 2015 was doubled compared to the same period of last year.
Dealerdirect was founded in 2007 and headquartered at Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company belongs to the platform ikwilvanmijnautoaf.nl, which serves the Dutch and Belgian market. Both the venture capitalist Prime Ventures Netherlands and Rocket Internet acquired shares from the company, Rocket Internet was started by the founders of German e-commerce company Zalando.
