Description
Italian eyewear manufacturer and distributor Allison is to relocate its headquarters from Padua to Volta Mantovana (Mantova). This decision may result in the loss of up to 120 people. The company formally asked the 120 workers to communicate by 25th August 2015 their intention to accept the transfer or redundancy. Transfers are expected to be operational by the end of December 2015. The Mantova site requires being restructured after its closure decided by Allison few years ago. After negotiation with unions, the management disclosed its intention not to participate in the meeting scheduled for the next 24 August as they are not willing to reconsider their decision. According to media sources, workers do not intend to accept the offer and move to the Mantova site, which is about 125 Km away from the current work location, and would, therefore, lose their job. Unions are holding assemblies with employees and called for the direct involvement of the Ministry of Economic Development with a view to relaunch negotiations with the management.
