Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Faurecia, a French automotive parts manufacturer, will invest 40 million euros in expanding its plant in Bragança (North Portugal). This expansion will create 400 jobs. This investment results from an agreement between Faurecia and the Portuguese State. Recruitment is already in progress and covers both employees for units as well as for the office and administration. The new unit will produce emission control systems, "with the most innovative technology" such as nitrogen oxides reduction systems (NOx). Faurecia currently employs more than 720 people in Bragança. In Portugal since 1951, the French group employs more than 3,700 people in six Portuguese factories (Bragança, Nelas, Palmela, Vouzela and two in São João da Madeira). Among the main customers of Faurecia Portugal are Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, Skoda, Daimler, RSA, PSA, General Motors, Renault, Nissan, VW, Citroen, Peugeot and Seat.
