Description
Car manufacturer Nissan announced plans to expand its workforce by 300 new jobs. The manufacturing plant is based in Wearside, Sunderland in North East England. The company has commenced recruitment in preparation of making a new model, Infiniti Q30. Production is due to start this year. The company has said that £250 million (approx. €342 million) will be invested in the factory including installation of a new production line and body shop. The expansion will see Nissan’s workforce in the United Kingdom increase to 6,800 with the company estimating that a further 28,000 jobs in the supply will result. As part of its announcement, Nissan has said that it has been more than two decades since large scale manufacturing of a new car brand has be undertaken in the United Kingdom. The cars will be exported to China and North America.
