Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 1st June 2015 the Commercial Court of Paris announced the bankruptcy of the Manoir foundry based in Custines. The company is a subsidiary of the Chinese group Yantai Taihai. The site, which employed 187 workers, had a cumulative loss of 13 million euros.
The management board has provided 2 million euros to guarantee employees' severance payments. The employees led by Bruno Colin, the company's engineer, hope to create a cooperative, which would enable the rehiring of 70 employees.
