Description

Automotive supplier and technology company Bosch has announced its intention to hire an additional 12,000 trained graduates worldwide in 2015, notably mechanical and electrical engineers and software developers and programmers. Three quarters of the new hires will be engineers, and close to one in three new positions will be open to people with no prior professional experience.

The company is also seeking to increase its share of female employees. The company’s need for skilled workers comes in response to the rising demand for internet applications in cars or household settings. Bosch is developing automated driving technology as well as digitalising industrial and domestic technology. The company’s need for skilled workers in software development and programming is expected to continue.

Shortages of experts, lower wages and the need to produce for in emerging markets  are driving the company to hire internationally. The greatest need for skilled workers is in India, where Bosch is planning to hire 3,200 workers in addition to its current workforce of 26,000, followed by China, where Bosch is planning 2,600 new hires. As previously reported to the EMR, Bosch intends to hire 1,200 graduates in Germany.

In 2014, Bosch hired approximately 9,000 graduates. In 2014 the ERM reported business expansions announced by the company  in Germany , Romania , and the Czech Republic . Bosch’s overall workforce is set to grow from 290,000 to 360,000 this year, as the company has taken over two businesses formerly run as joint ventures.
