Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Shipbuilding Uljanik Group from Pula will recruit around 500 young skilled blue-collar professionals in various occupations as well as skilled engineers following the signature of contracts for the building of two new ships for the transportation of cars for the Norwegian grouping Siem Shipping.
These are large-capacity ships that carry 7,000 cars. It is a continuation of the series of car-carriers that the shipbuilding firm has contracted in 2014 with the same client. The ships will be built in Pula and Rijeka. The order book for all Uljanik Group contains a total of 20 medium and highly complex ships, with full production capacity until the second half of 2018.
To attract the young to enrol in adequate educational programmes, Uljanik group has restarted its scholarship programme. For students, especially in shipbuilding, as well as for other students of technical universities, the initial scholarship is around HRK 1,600 (€ 215), while for those with better grades it is significantly higher.
