Description

French cables and cabling systems manufacturer Nexans is dismissing 90 employees at its facility in Halden. The affected employees were informed on April 14 that 90 will be permanently dismissed by the end of May. At the same time, 25 additional employees at the factory are being tamporarily laid off.

The process of deciding where the cuts will be made is ongoing. The management is in dialogue with union representatives and are keeping employees informed about the process as it unfolds.

The restructuring comes in response to the difficult market situation in the petroleum sector and fewer contracts won by the company than expected. The facility in Halden employs 900 of the company's 1,750 employees. About 90 employees have been temporarily laid off since January.
