Description
Italian local transport operator for Milan ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanese) has announced the hiring of about 160 permanent employees. The city will host the Expo exhibition, which will last from May to October 2015. Investments have been made in order to improve public transport in that period. Since a massive flow of people is expected for the six-month Expo exhibition, the company will increase the frequency of public transport service and hire further 389 workers on fixed-term contracts. In total, the company intends to hire 155 drivers, 145 employees in maintenance, information systems and sales, 70 employees for support activities like ticket inspection, 50 workers for surveillance activities.
The company also plans to increase overtime and reduce the possibility of time off for employees during the Expo period, a decision that was opposed by unions, that asked the Municipality of Milan to ensure funding for overtime and hiring more drivers.
