Description
Wind turbine manufacturer, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs at its site in Newport (Isle of Wight). The news follows the award of a contract to produce 80m blades for a windfarm in Liverpool Bay. Production of the new blades is due to begin in May 2015, though it is not known when the job vacancies will be filled. The company had previously closed a turbine plant on the island in 2009 resulting in the loss of 425 jobs. The company attributed the previous closure to a lack of demand for wind turbines in the UK.
