Description

The management of the US doors and windows manufacturer, Jeld-Wen, has announced to employee representatives of its site at Argentré-du-Plessis (Ille-et-Vilaine) a restructuring that will lead to the closure of the manufacturing plant. The group will offer positions in other sites to the 105 workers employed on permanent employment contract, as the project involves transferring activities to its two other plants in Eauze (Gers) and Ussel (Cantal). However, taking into account the distance between the two sites and the current home of the affected workers (500 km), many of them will refuse to be transferred and thus will be dismissed. Furthermore, the reorganisation leads to the dismissal of 25 temporary workers and 5 administrative positions at the headquarters in Eauze. The management has started the information and consultation procedure with the central works council on 26 February.
