Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sitel Bulgaria, a customer care company, plans to create 100 new jobs at its second call center in Bulgaria, located in Varna, by the end of February 2015. The company is already in the process of recruiting staff.
Reportedly, the new center will serve the customers of one of the largest German telecommunications operators. Sitel opened its first call center in Sofia in 2006, with 600 employees. The location of the second call centre - in Varna - is preferred because of the strategic position of the city (close to Shumen and Dobrich), high levels of unemployment in the area and the presence of young and educated unemployed.
Sitel Bulgaria is a subsidiary of US group Sitel, which is owned by Canadian diversified company Onex Corporation. It has over 59,000 employees in 130 centers in 23 countries. Sitel is in the top seven companies in the outsourcing sector.
