Description
Minipreço, a discount supermarket chain in Portugal, part of the Spanish Dia (which was formerly owned by the French supermarket company Carrefour) has dismissed 130 workers. On 5 January 2015, four supermarkets were closed resulting in 130 redundancies. The reason for the closures is the debt accumulation that resulted after a decline of profit margins. Workers blame the Spanish group 'Dia' for the raising of "profit margins for them." This is the second collective dismissal in Guimarães within one month.
