Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 10 December 2014, Jerónimo Martins, a Portugal-based international Group operating in Food Distribution, Food Manufacturing, and Services sectors, owner of food store chains in Poland (Biedronka), announced creation of 280 jobs at the newly opened distribution centre in Pruszków (Poland). The centre will supply articles to 120 stores in the region. The investment was worth approx. PLN 60 million (over EUR 14.2 million).
Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A. has started its operation in Poland in 1995 and is employing now around 55,000 people there. Currently, the company owns 2,500 stores and 15 distribution centres across Poland.
