The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Tesco Hungary has closed 13 stores in Hungary in the following cities: Budapest, Győr, Abony, Nagykáta, Nyergesújfalu, Törökszentmiklós, Hajdúböszörmény, Tatabánya, Tolna,Püspökladány, Sopron. 566 jobs were affected; however, Tesco Hungary was able to offer alternative jobs for the majority of workers, so only 150 will be permanently dismissed due to the closures. There will also be job cuts at the company's three logistics centres in Hungary (in Budaörs, Herceghalom, Gyál). In this case, 206 jobs will be affected, but the number of dismissals is only 44, as the company has internally redeployed many employees.
