Description
French retailer of sports equipment Decathlon is planning to open a large store in the shopping centre ‘King Cross’ in Zagreb on 15-11-2014. This will be the first Decathlon store in Croatia. It will be a large store, occupying more than 3,500 square meters (which is equal to the size of eight basketball courts). At a press conference, journalists had the opportunity to preview the new store.
Decathlon sells a variety of sporting equipment including products for swimming, running, fitness, fishing, and gymnastics. The customers will also be able to play sports in the store as there will be a basketball courts, and an areas to play football and table-tennis. Decathlon plans to expand to other Croatian cities, including Osijek, Split, and Rijeka. Decathlon Croatia currently employs 50 people, and aims to create 200 more jobs by the end of next year.
Decathlon is a manufacturer and distributor of sporting goods, and its offer includes 6-10 thousand different product models. Decathlon has twenty own brands titled ‘Passion brands’. Alongside products manufactured by international sports brands, Decathlon offers equipment from specialist brands, which belong to the various well-known companies like Quecha (mountain and outdoor sports), Wed’ze (skiing and snowboarding), Tribord (water sports), Domyos (fitness), Kalenji (running), B’Twin (cycling) and Kipsta (team sports). The stores also offer servicing and repairs of purchased equipment.
