Description

Deeside based paper mill UPM Shotton has announced plans to cut 130 jobs in the UK as part of plans to reduce its overall production across Europe. The site at the Deeside Industrial Park employs 370 staff and operates two paper machines. The plan is for one of those machines to be closed down. The company has also announced that it will be shutting down production sites in Finland and France as part of the restructuring plan which will see job reductions of 550 across the European operations.

A spokesperson for the company has said that a consultation period has started and better information on the exact numbers of jobs which will be affected will be known following the outcome of the consultation.

Update, 23-01-2015: UPM has confirmed that job losses would total 121. The losses are expected to take effect by end of March 2015.
