Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 5 November 2014, construction group Heijmans announced it will cut 200 jobs from a group total of 7000. The jobs will be cut in their non-residential section. Heijmans expects to lose money in 2014 due to the continuing crisis in the construction sector. The unions point to the importance of the current social plan at Heijmans but are anxious that more and more regular employees will be replaced by employees with fixed term contracts and or in self-employment.
