Description
Cardboard product manufacturer Smurfit-Kappa has announced that it is closing its production factory in Nybro, Sweden, making 110 employees redundant. An over-supply of corrugated board products is the reason behind the management’s decision to close down the factory. Smurfit-Kappa has four factories in Sweden, and according to the company the one in Nybro was most suitable for closure due to its remote geographic location.
The company also announced that 40 new positions will be added to their other sites in Sweden in order compensate for the closure of the factory in Nybro. The redundant staff has been told that they will have priority access to the new positions if they wish to apply.
Smurfit-Kappa employs a total of 1,400 people in Sweden.
