Description

Social tourism association Azureva (previously Vacances-PTT), has announced plans to cut 253 out of total 395 permanent jobs. According to the sources, the job reduction plan is due to accumulated losses of €50 bn and will affect 38 holiday resorts mainly located in the south of France and the headquarters in Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain). As mentioned, negotiations with the unions FO and CFTD have already been launched and are expected to conclude in January 2015. As reported, alternatives including redeployment of 137 (other sources mention 194) affected staff on the basis of seasonal short-term contracts will be proposed, but that probably will be rejected by the employees.

Although the timeframe for the restructuring is not known yet, voluntary departures are expected to take place in March 2015 and the initial round of layoffs in June 2015.

The media sources refer also in addition to the above mentioned plan, that possible outsourcing of cleaning and maintenance services may also have a negative impact on about 1,200 (other sources mention 1,600) seasonal workers.
