Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Supplier of medical single-use disposable products Unomedical (a ConvaTec company) is to create 300 new jobs in 2015. As reported, the job expansion will be the result of a €10.5 million investment plan to expand the activities of the existing factory in Michalovce (Kosice region) due to increasing market demands.
According to the sources, in 2014 Unomedical created 55 new jobs and received a tax relief of €1.65 million. As mentioned, experts consider that the investment plan is linked with the decision to expand the existing facility rather than creating a new one, as well as labour costs.
Unomedical opened its plant in Michalovce, in 2006. In 2009, ERM reported a job reduction restructuring event.
