Description

Telemarketing company Uno Life, based in Drammen, Norway, is dismissing 250 employees, including both part-time and full-time positions. Uno Life started out telemarketing cellphone plans, electricity and insurance. After expanding into sales and marketing of health food in early 2014, Uno Life recieved a large number of complaints from customers, including claims of being invoiced for products never ordered or received. After the Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman (CO) determined that the company's sales tactics were illegal, Uno Life suspended all business from the end of October, awaiting a final legal decision.

All employees working the evening shift will be dismissed, as well as customer service and administrative positions.  The 250 dismissed workers were formally employed by employment agency Tinde Bemanning, which is also part of the Uno group of companies, with the same owners. 100 employees will remain in Tinde Bemanning, selling electricity plans. Affiliated companies UNP and Uno People have recently filed  for bankruptcy. At a maximum, these companies had 400 and 600 registered employees, respectively.
