Closure has been announced at Blackpool airport after no new buyer could be found for the business. The owners Balfour Beatty had set a deadline of 7 October to complete any sale of the business, but no agreement could be put in place to secure future operations. The closure will result in the loss of 110 jobs. Normal operations will continue until 15 October, at which point business will be transferred to Manchester. The owners had been trying since August to find a buyer for the business.
