Description

Colussi, an Italian group operating in the food industry, is to lay off 80 workers at its site in Petrignano d’Assisi (Perugia). As reported, the job reduction measure is due to a reduced demand in the sector, affecting in particular bakery products.

According to the sources, in the coming weeks meetings will be held with trade unions to discuss possible ways to avoid redundancies. The company has already announced three possible solutions: incentives for early retirement, activation of Wages Guarantee Funds and solidarity contracts, and re-integration of outsourced activities.

Updated, 29/09/2014: An agreement was reached between the company and trade unions. The company will lay off 74 blue-collar workers at its Petrignano d’Assisi site and 4 white-collar workers at its Perugia premises by  30 September 2015. Lay-offs will be on a voluntary basis and give precedence to employees whose pension entitlements mature during the period. Furthermore, up to 250 workers will be put on Wages Guarantee Fund for 13 weeks.
