Description

Global building products manufacturer Jeld-Wen has announced a reduction of 186 jobs at its door manufacturing site in Åstorp, Sweden. The jobs will be offshored to a new production facility that will be constructed in one of the Baltic countries where labour costs are lower.

The cuts will affect 171 blue-collar workers and 15 white-collar workers. Union negotiations are due to start the week after the announcement.

Jeld-Wen's global operation covers four continents and encompasses roughly 20,000 employees. The Swedish branch of Jeld-Wen employs 370 people at its site in Åstorp.
