Description

Insurance company Union Insurance has announced plans to create 100 new jobs.  The company specialises in providing insurance policies for trade union members. A new call centre has been created at Wakefield 41 Business Park, meaning that for the first time the company will operate outside of London. Rising costs in the capital was the main reason for expanding the business at a new site with Wakefield emerging as the 'clear winner' according to the firm's managing director.

The Local Enterprise Partnership for the area, Leeds City Region, is supporting the new site with a grant of £100,000 from its Business Growth Programme. The total investment in the new site is £1.4 million. Recruitment for the new positions has already started but it is not known when all the vacancies are expected to be filled.
